What Gear to Use.

  • Bucktail jigs, Shad tails, Shrimp imitators
  • 18-24 inch flourocarbon leader
  • Live Whitebait, Sardines, Threadfin Herring, Shrimp
  • small white flies, white jigs.
  • NOVEMBER - Whitebait or Herring live is best now but try to "match the hatch". Glass minnows and shrimp at night.

Where to look.

  • APRIL - starting to gather around beaches and passes.
  • MAY -
  • JUNE -
  • JULY -
  • AUGUST -
  • SEPTEMBER -
  • OCTOBER (8) - Find them along the mangroves and in the small channels and cuts between mangrove islands.
  • NOVEMBER (7) - best found around docks and bridges as they move to shallower creeks and canals.

Methods

  • Hook dead Herring through eyes and cast near docks and other structure, allow to sit on bottom checking bait at 3-4 minute intervals.
  • OCTOBER - night fishing is good this month around areas of strong water flow.
  • NOVEMBER - watch along the deep water side of sandbars and cast long to reach their location.
