Girth x Girth x Length / 800 = Weight

Girth = Measurement around fattest part of fish.

length = Measurement from tip of lower jaw to fork of tail.

Use Barbless or Circle hooks.

Only net the fish as a last resort to control it.

Use wet hands or cloth to handle fish.
-
Keep fish from flopping around on hard surfaces.

Keep fish in the water as much as possible.

Do not hold the fish in the gills or eyes.

Use needle nose pliers or similar to remove deep swallowed hooks.

If hook is too deep, cut leader as short as possible.
-
RETURN FISH TO WATER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Following these simple procedures has proven to greatly increase a fishes chances of survival.

Help Protect our Pelicans!
If you catch a Pelican or other bird with your fishing tackle. DO NOT CUT THE LINE. Instead follow these simple steps.

Slowly pull the bird in (being careful of the sharp beaks of some birds).

Keep the bird from flopping around by holding it's bill and folded wings.

Find the hook or entangling string.

If hooked : Push the barb out the shortest way possible. Cut the barb of the hook. Pull the hook out backwards.

If tangled : Find the string and either cut it or unwrap it from the bird.
-
If swallowed : transport bird to a wildlife rescue facility* or similar.
-
Gently put the bird back in the water or on the ground.
